Dymag wheels chosen for Cadillac prototype

cadillac.jpg

Not entirely related to our motorcycle riders but news we're proud of and thought you'd like to know. Dymag has been selected by General Motors as the wheel supplier for a "best-of-breed" Cadillac STS.

"We have challenged our engineers to take the best of today's vehicle technologies and integrate them with promising future technologies to demonstrate how they will function together in a real-world driving environment," said Jim Queen, GM vice president, Global Engineering and general chairperson of the 2005 SAE World Congress.
- General Motors Press Release

The 2-piece carbon fiber rims are fastened to its magnesium spokes with titanium bolts. This two-piece wheel is designed to be the lightest yet strongest wheel in production, which reduces unsprung weight improving acceleration, braking efficiency, handling and fuel consumption.

The prototype was designed for the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) which is celebrating 100 years in 2005.
